In partnership with the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), and RAK Properties, the Global Citizen Forum’s second instalment in the ‘Butterfly Effect’ trilogy, Earth Age, opened its doors on Wednesday 6th December. The Global Citizen Forum is an annual event that brings together world leaders, influential figures, and thought leaders to discuss pressing global issues and promote positive change. The forum provides a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action on a wide range of topics, including social, economic, and environmental issues. At the Global Citizen Forum, participants engage in panel discussions and networking opportunities to exchange knowledge and best practices. The forum also serves as a platform for showcasing innovative projects and initiatives that have the potential to make a significant impact on a global scale.

At the Forum, contemporary artist and eco-activist Natalia Kapchuk spearheaded several initiatives focused on art, sustainability, and philanthropy. These efforts included hosting an exhibition featuring her artworks from ‘The Lost Planet’ series, which aimed to raise awareness about important environmental issues. Additionally, she donated an artwork for a charity auction and announced her ambassadorship of a forest planting project in collaboration with the Nullker platform.

Natalia's solo exhibition, held from December 6th to 7th, 2023, showcased a selection of artworks from ‘The Lost Planet’ series and left a long- lasting impression on hundreds of delegates. The show delved into the unique natural beauty of our planet while highlighting the pressing environmental challenges caused by human activities. The display featured eight art pieces, including “Carbon Clouds” (2020), “Ocean's DNA” (2019), “Man-made Island” (2019), “Virgin Rocks” (2019), and other captivating creations.

During the Global Citizen Forum Gala night, Natalia Kapchuk's piece "The Vanishing Antarctica" (2019) fetched $50,000 at a charity auction. The proceeds from the auction went towards supporting the Yusra Mardini Foundation, the Global Citizen Cultural Centre for Youth, and other initiatives that aim to amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

A number of Natalia's artworks have previously been offered for auction in aid of charities, and the funds raised have been directed to environmental and humanitarian projects. Natalia has also supported the One Tree Planted reforestation project and has become an ambassador for this green initiative, aiming to raise awareness about sustainable initiatives through the Nullker eco platform.

The issue of humanity's carbon footprint and the restoration of the Earth's natural "lungs" is now more pertinent than ever. With almost 100 million trees lost annually due to extensive deforestation for agricultural and urban purposes, Natalia Kapchuk uses art as a medium to share the contemporary environmental agenda in a way that is understandable and accessible to a wide audience. Through her personal actions and advocacy, the artist sets an example of taking small steps towards a global goal, encouraging others to join her in the spirit of the Global Citizen Forum.

“I harness the influence of my artistic endeavours to illuminate the deepening environmental crises. Simultaneously, I strive to foster a sense of personal responsibility and collective action, igniting optimism for a more promising tomorrow.”
