In the heart of London, against the backdrop of a rich tapestry of 700 years of history, the Creative Women Forum unfolded on the 4th of November 2023. This exceptional event, led by the visionary founder and CEO of the Creative Women Platform, Olga Balakleet, brought together a diverse audience of entrepreneurs, accomplished women, members of the royal family, and celebrities. The forum was a captivating tapestry of panels, solo speakers, and shared knowledge, fostering a sense of camaraderie and empowerment.
Among the forum's many highlights was a panel discussion moderated by Rebeca Riofrio, who introduced four remarkable women from the realms of art, fashion, architecture, and media. Karen Millen, Dara Huang and Misty Bailey each a prominent figure in her own right, delved into the pressing topic Women in Business behind the Art Industry.
One of the luminaries who graced the stage was the artist and environmental advocate, Natalia Kapchuk. Natalia Kapchuk’s commitment to art led her to prestigious art institutions: she completed additional courses at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, followed by The Chelsea College of Arts in London, where she refined her craft.
Natalia's distinctive approach to art lies in her fondness for mixed-media assemblage, incorporating a medley of materials, including reclaimed, natural, and industrially sourced elements. From tree bark to sand, from natural stones to fermented moss, her creations breathe life into her vision. Her art is not just a reflection of her creativity; it's a mirror of her deep-seated concern for the environment, shaped by her unwavering commitment to addressing the environmental crises caused by human actions.
As an ambassador at The Parliamentary Society of Arts, Fashion, and Sports in the UK, Natalia Kapchuk uses her influence to champion the causes she holds dear. She also supports charitable organizations dedicated to safeguarding the world's lands and oceans through her role as an ambassador for the Better World Fund (BWF).
In her own words, Natalia encapsulates the essence of her art and mission: "Such a blessing it would be to live in a world where the innate beauty of nature is allowed to thrive and exist, unadulterated by the hands of humanity." Her creations are a testament to her commitment to a more promising world where harmony between humanity and nature is not a distant dream but an achievable reality.

Q. Your art revolves around the connection between environmental awareness and humanity's impact on our planet. I understand that you often use upcycled materials in your creations, showing a strong commitment to addressing human waste. Could you share a particular artwork of yours that conveys your message about the relationship between nature and humanity? What message or impression do you hope viewers will gain from that specific piece?
Natalia Kapchuk: “Indeed, all of my artworks are an ode to the exquisite beauty of our planet, set against the backdrop of the sometimes destructive human activities that leave their mark on Earth. We can take for example one of my pieces showcased today at the Creative Women Forum, "Simulated Earth." In crafting this artwork, I utilized reclaimed and repurposed LEGO and microchip elements to construct the world’s continents. Through the "Simulated Earth," I aim to underscore that amidst the rapid development and remarkable technological progress in our world, it is crucial to remain mindful of our primary and ultimate duty - to protect our planet. We should harness technological advancements to benefit nature and address the pressing environmental crisis, securing a promising future for generations to come.”
Q. Your journey as an artist has taken you to different parts of the world. Could you share if experience of international travels influenced your creative process or art career?
Natalia Kapchuk: “I am truly fortunate to have the privilege of experiencing the world through my artistic endeavors. I regularly exhibit my artworks on a global scale, participating in solo and group exhibitions, as well as art fairs. Noteworthy among these are my solo showcases at Expo 2020 Dubai and the CICA Museum in South Korea. Additionally, I have been part of numerous group exhibitions. Most recently, I had the honor of being featured at the London Art Biennale and the StART Art Fair here in London.
I see each journey to a different country and the exhibitions therein never fail to infuse me with fresh inspiration drawn from the new environments. It's in these moments that I get to immerse myself in diverse landscapes and natural settings, allowing me to delve into novel themes and environmental subjects that serve as the driving force behind my artistic creations.”
Q. As an artist, you've not only created captivating artwork but have also succeeded in the business side of the art industry. Can you share a specific business decision or strategy that greatly impacted your success, and how might this advice help aspiring female artists in the audience who aim to thrive in the art business?
Natalia Kapchuk: “For aspiring female artists looking to thrive in the art business, my advice would be to harness the power of social media and use it to showcase their unique artistic style and vision. Furthermore, surround yourself with a dedicated support network, individuals who uplift and motivate you in your journey. Above all, celebrate your individuality. Your distinct perspective and unique artistic voice are your most valuable assets. Have the confidence to express yourself authentically in both your art and business endeavors. Embrace what makes you unique and let it guide you in creating something genuinely original.”
