Artist, eco-activist, and philanthropist Natalia Kapchuk recently participated in the 163rd Annual Open Exhibition of The Society of Women Artists, held at the Mall Galleries in London.
The exhibition, which ran from June 25 to 29, included a range of events such as a Special YPAI Preview Evening, a Private View, and an Award Ceremony attended by HRH Princess Michael of Kent. The exhibition also featured a Breast Cancer Now Evening, where a portion of the proceeds from artwork sales was donated to the charity Breast Cancer Now, followed by public viewings.
The Open Exhibition, organized by The Society of Women Artists (SWA), is an annual event showcasing around 450 artworks by women artists from the UK and beyond. The exhibition displays a variety of styles, including abstract, figurative, traditional, unconventional, and features diverse media such as oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, etchings, lithographs, screen prints, sculpture, ceramics, portraiture, and landscapes.
Natalia Kapchuk has participated in the event and presented her artwork “Environmental Crisis” (2019) from “The Lost Planet” series. This art piece, displayed in the West Gallery at The Mall Galleries. This striking contemporary artwork, enhanced with LED lights, highlights the severe impact of plastic and oil pollution on the Earth’s ecosystems. It serves as a powerful reminder of the nearly eight million tonnes of plastic and approximately 706 million gallons of waste oil that contaminate the oceans annually.
